Ariel Marcus-Hollenbeck

Meet Ariel Marcus-Hollenbeck

A proud Native Staten Islander, Ariel carries the borough’s spirit into every project, turning hometown pride into art that resonates.

A trained actor, honing skills at SUNY Oswego, The Barrow Group, and William Esper Studio, Ariel has enchanted audiences with standout performances, from Shakespeare’s impish Puck to straight-laced Meredith Parker in the otherworldly rock musical “Bat Boy.”

As the full-time Artistic Director of IlluminArt Productions, a growing educational arts company, for the past five years, Ariel seamlessly blends the worlds of education, administration, and artistry. She is also steering the ship as Festival Director of the Women’s Playwright Collective, which is in the midst of its seventh season of giving space to women-identify playwrights of all stages of their careers.

Outside of work Ariel had penned gems like “Mind the Light,” a tribute to the inspiring Kate Walker of Robbins Reef Lighthouse, and is working towards her Master’s in Performing Arts Management from CUNY Brooklyn. When relaxing, Ariel can be found going to the theatre with her ginger-bearded husband, enjoying a nap with her cats, and, you guessed it, exploring the hidden gems of the Forgotten Borough.
